There are various different installer files for the Windows Live
suite of programs.
You can download the 14.0.8117.416 version of wlsetup-web.exe
from
http://explore.live.com/windows-live-essentials-xp.
It is a fairly small file (about 1.2 Mb). If you run this file
on a Win XP computer, it should download and install the latest
stable version of the Windows Live suite of programs for Windows
XP (version14.0.8117.0416). During installation, you can choose
which Live programs you require on your computer.
Version 14.0.8117.416 should download OK, if your operating
system is Windows XP. However, I don't know whether you will be
able to download it (or whether it will install the correct
version of Windows Live), if your operating system is Vista or
Windows 7. Give it a try.
Otherwise, the complete installation package for Windows Live
Essentials is wlsetup-all.exe, which is a large file (134 MB or
141,399,376 bytes).
Unfortunately, that file no longer seems to be available from
Microsoft. However, you could download it from a non-Microsoft
location and save it on your hard drive. A Google search will
identify various locations.
You should confirm that the file is genuine, before you install
it. Check the digital signature. I have a copy of
wlsetup-all.exe on my Win XP computer. The certificate on my
copy was issued to Microsoft Corporation at 22:15:25 on April
28, 2010 - and is signed by the Microsoft Time-Stamp Service.
As an added precaution, you could also scan the file with your
usual security software plus Malwarebytes and SuperAntiSpyware,
before installation.
