You cannot delete it from the registry - that only identifies *where to find
8t>

indiv02.key is on your system - find that file and you should be fine. You
*cannot* go online with IE to try to fix this. You *have* to do this locally
by resetting those files. I believe the article I linked to lists the
default location they can be found in.

TechArena makes it harder to help people: since it didn't quote the previous
post, I have little idea what you're talking about.

What is the exact crash information?
http://zachd.com/pss/pss.html#indiv
should be about what you have to do anyways.

Wow, TechArena is a horrible site. It's excruciating to help you when you
use it.

Keep following the steps.

Find the file Indiv01_64.key on your system. That's the folder you were
supposed to reset when you followed the steps. =)

This has to be the most challenging problem to find resolution to especially
with many people having the same issue. I am in teh same boat as tnemelc23
and Viper5030. I upgraded my CPU, too. I am running Vista 32.

I have followed the instructions via this thread
http://forums.techarena.in/media-player/1101559.htm. Although there were no
files in my DRM, I did rename it. But when I went try to go to the link
http://go.microsoft.com/FWLink?LinkID=34506 IE crashed too.

After doing a detailed slow search for the file Indiv01.key (which was what
was indicated as crashing) - I noticed that the file was located in the
following directory:

c:\programdata\microsoft\windows\DRM - so I renamed it to DRMOLD

Previously I had found c:\programdata\microsoft\DRM and renamed it.

Now I can get to the
drmlicense.one.microsoft.com/indivsite/en/indivit.asp?force=1 url but the
"upgrade" is grayed out.
any suggestions on how to complete the steps?

RESOLVED:

I had to reboot and go back to the link for the "Upgrade" to be available.
At which point it indicated I needed an update to windows media player that I
installed. Now WMP on my Vista machine plays again.

Recap of the steps I performed:
1. Followed steps posted at
http://support.microsoft.com/kb/891664/en-us

....Take note that you have to rename the directory
c:\programdata\microsoft\windows\DRM

2. Rebooted the computer

3. Then go to link http://go.microsoft.com/FWLink?LinkID=34506
4. Select Upgrade and follow instructions.

The key steps (getting to the right DRM directory as there are several on
the computer) and rebooting before doing the "update' of DRM.

I hope this helps onthers who have been as frustrated as I have been with
finding the right steps to do.
