On Windows 7, this will always be WMP 12.

It's hard to suggest anything without knowing what library view you're
currently in (Music, Artist, Album...), but you may want to click on
Music on the left, and switch to detailed view: click the little arrow
next to the Search field, and select Details.

Artist view might be interesting too: click Artist on the left, and
double-click a specific artist to see its list of songs.

It's possible by running WMP 10 in XP mode (Virtual PC).
