Actually these are referred to as =views=.

The =filters= are dropdowns on the top of the details pane which allow you
to further refine the view based on Approval status
(Approved/NotApproved/Declined) and Update Status (Needed/Installed/etc.)

Perhaps this is a function of needing to properly set the FILTERS at the top
of the screen so that you are viewing those updates with
Approval=NotApproved and Status=Needed. Alternatively, if you want to view
All NotApproved updates, set Status=Any, and if you want to view All
Critical Updates, then set Approval=Any Except Declined.
