From What i can gather it has an awful lot to do with how current your
hardware device drivers are when you dl the XP SP2
I installed and lost connection to internet altogether.....had to uninstall
the SP2 and all my hardware started to reload through plug and play...... My
computer is HP pavilion and although it states that all hardware drivers they
use are provided to Windows Update ........my ethernet card a Realtek
8139/810 apparently didnt make the list........when i did go to the
manufacturer and update the driver. ...i see that it is XP SP2
compatible........

anybody else note that the drivers were older????
