ReActivate Vista on Intel Matrix Manager Upgrade

I today I got a message asking me to activate windows because there had been
a hardware change. I have had this machine for several months and have not
recently made any hardware changes. The only thing I changed was to upgrade
the Intel Matrix Manager on my computer. Will I need to reactivate windows
every time I upgrade this? This seems rather tedious. Wouldn't it make more
sense to attach the activation key to the hardware and not something based on
a driver? Otherwise, I'll be wasting my time and Microsoft's money speaking
with activation support people every month or two as I upgrade.

Thanks.

A quote from Carey Frisch (MVP)
You may be prompted to activate Windows Vista on a computer on which
Windows Vista was already activated by a Volume License or OEM installation:
http://support.microsoft.com/default...b;EN-US;931573

You can reset your Windows Vista activation by performing the following:

1. Click on the Start button and in the Start Search box type in: slui.exe
4

2. Press the Enter key on your keyboard.

3. Select your Country.

4. Follow the instructions for phone activation.

5. Once completed, restart your computer.

This happened to me yesterday and I had to call to have Vista reactivated.
Glad I found this post, because like you the only change I had done was
install the Intel Matrix Manager and couldn't figure out why I needed to
reactivate (neither could the Microsoft rep). I have clicked on "agree" for
your post. Thanks.
