Read and write calendar items

Is there any mechanism to read and write to and from the Calendar. And
please $$$ don't tell me I have to use Soap and the inexcusably expensive
Visual Studio? I'm just looking for a simple API that lets me sync calendars
over half a dozen different types of outlook and other CRM tools.

I looked at the interface to Window's Live Photogallery and wondered if the
designers were touched in the head: full VS needed, Data buried in XML and
SOAP. Heaven help the simple guy who just wants to get a simple job done.

You can get Visual Studio for free. Just download the express editions.
Secondly, AFAIK there is no calendar API however this was discussed during
the Wave 3 beta and may be something coming in the future.

For WLM Calendar to Outlook, the only sync possible is using a Live ID in WLM for that specific Live ID calendar and the Outlook
Connector in Outlook(for that same Live ID)...the data in either will sync upward to the web UI and be available in the other
client when using that same Live ID.
