ready boost service error message - help!

I noticed my PC was taking about 30 extra seconds to boost. Checked th
ready boost usb device that I've been using for 6 months without a
issue. It contained no files, no ready boost cache. Hmmm. Reformated i
(first NTFS, then fat 32), pulled it out, plugged back in - never got
tab on properties for setting up as ready boost. Went into services, th
ready boost service was stopped. Started it and got this error message

"windows could not start the readyboost service on local computer
Error 6: The handle is invalid"

Plugged in another usb thumbdrive, same exact problem

Anyone have any ideas on how to fix this
