ReadyBoost Turn Off

Any way to stop the machine automatically putting ReadyBoost info on a Flash
drive.

I had a 4 Gb Kingston that I tried ReadyBoost and as it made little
difference, I took the Flash Drive and deleted the ReadyBoost file on
another XP machine.

As soon as I insert it back in the Vista Ultimate, it writes the ReadyBoost
Data back.

Annoying as it virtually fills the drive (3.8Gb), so if I could stop it
doing it, that would be fine.

Open Explorer
Right-click on the correct drive letter
Properties
ReadyBoost TAB
Select the "Do Not Use" option

Is the flash drive you tried designed to work with ReadyBoost?

"To use Windows ReadyBoost, PCs must be preinstalled with Windows
Vista^(TM) and have access to a non-volatile flash memory buffer with at
least 1GB of storage capacity. The flash memory buffer must also meet
the requirements for random reads and random writes specified in the
Windows Vista Logo "Storage-0009 WLP" specification:

.. 3 MB/sec throughput for random 512k writes across the entire device"
