For those of you not familiar, three OSs went head to head in a hacking
contest: Mac, Vista, Ubuntu. I'm summarizing for brevity, so for details see
the link.

Day 1: No OS was breached
Day 2 (OS was allowed to access websites and e-mail): Mac was breached in 2
minutes
Day 3 (Third party apps were installed): Vista was breached because of Adobe
Flash.

The Ubuntu was never breached, but don't be too quick to judge. Vista was
"as secure" until the third party app. Anyone who subscribes to Secunia knows
this is true for most platforms.

DISCLAIMER: I haven't been in this group for awhile because of the "low
bandwidth high noise", so I didn't search to see if this information was
already posted. I doubt I'll check back for responses, but my e-mail is valid
if you have comments for me.

Shhhh. Don’t tell the Mac fanboys that OS X was breached in 2 MINUTES!
They're too busy licking Steve Jobs' boots and cant be interrupted.

If you scroll down to find the first post about this before any of them were
breached you'll see I predicted both breaches, although I thought it would
be different Adobe product. Apple has a terrible security record with
Safari. Adobe isn't far behind. None of the actual OS' were breached with an
OS exploit which is good news.

The lesson to be learned is that it is very important to keep ALL
applications up to date. Simply turning on Automatic Updates for the OS is
not enough. You have to actively monitor all applications for updates.

You know Kerry, I had a go round with a Mac fanboy in another group over
issues like this. Like you, I told him all it takes is a little due
diligence and your system will be secure. It's a bitch being right all the
time, huh?
