You shouldn't use winupdate for drivers.
Use manu sites only; There is a saying that 'if it aint broke dont fix it',
and I'm thinking specifically of drivers.

I got the same error trying to install Realtek AC'97 drivers. This is my
second Vista install, because of a bad OEM hard drive. The funny thing is
that audio worked for the first install.

Hi there,

If it ain't broke: don't fix it!


Driver updates should if the are necessary be taken from the manufacturer
because windows update is not a good place for this as many people have
experienced before you.

Look at http://www.realtek.com.tw/downloads/ for suitable driver.
