Dear Skippie,
I am using an Hp Pavilion Slimline desktop machine with win 7 home
that has the realtek audio device installed from the factory. I Googled
realtek on the web and found that there is lots of stuff (drivers, and such)
available on the web directly from realtek, and others. I am only guessing
here, but I suspect you were poking around in the control panel under
system, and deleted it from hardware manager (I hope that I am using the
proper terms here). It should be a simple matter of "adding new hardware"
(the realtek audio), and installing the appropriate drivers there. If,
however, you feel uncomfortable in doing this on your machine yourself, you
may want to get a more knowledgeable friend to assist you doing this, or,
just bite the bullet and take it to the Geek Squad, and pay them. Don't
worry, you didn't "break" anything. You simply told windows not to use the
realtek audio. Remember to download and save the driver from the web. (some
of us at one time, or another have done some silly things with these
machines!). Don't worry, it's all a part of the learning curve. Please post
a response and let me know how you're making out.
