I have a "reboot needed" warning which has come up and will not go away even
after a reboot. Have no idea where it has come from as the program is not
identified in any way. Where do I need to look to put a stop to this? Does
not seem to be affecting anything else, but would like to fix it.

I'd try going into the defender program.
Tools, software explorer and look at the startup things. If it's in here you
can disable it.

How is Windows otherwise working? What does this message look like--is it a
Windows message? I agree with Bob. It sounds like spyware. Try running some
antimalware programs like Defender and Adaware.

What Chad said.

What's the exact text of the "reboot needed" warning? A screenshot might be
helpful.
