I recently upgraded my ram and after about 3 days of my pc working fine i
sudenly get the dreaed blue screen of death ! With this problem i can not
enter windows because after the blue screen it reboots .
I thought it was the ram so i changed it back to my old ram but still no luck.
So im going to reinstall vista but what i want to know is as my pc came with
vista already installed on it do i have to buy a brand new copy of vista or
is there another way ? Any help would be great as i am now pulling my hair
out strand by strand.

'restore to factory defaults' is an option you should see on the menu you
get when you restart, and during the 'black screen', right after the BIOS
screen, you press 'F8'

Before you do that, you should recheck the 'seat' of the ram chips. People
who have not done it much, often fail to seat the chip good enough. It terms
of rebuilding the system, it would not take long to try that.

When you first boot up, there should be an F key you can hit to "restore
the system" or something like that and that will restore your copy of
Vista to the way it was when you bought the machine. If that works, you
can burn a DVD from the hidden partition in case you need to reinstall
it because your hard drive went south. It should be the first thing you
do if the above works. If it doesn't work, call the manufacturer of your
computer to get a way to restore your computer back to its factory
settings. There is no reason to buy another copy of Vista unless, of
course, you enjoy wasting your money.

What you need is the error code from the blue screen. If what you have is a
hardware issue, it will not matter how many times you do a complete system
refresh..
