Very often (>50%)when I go to sign into Windows Live Messenger, after a few
seconds, the computer reboots for no obvious reason. There isn't an error
message to relate to just a reboot.

Greetings Drew,

Are you sure the system isn't blue screening and rebooting faster to see it?

To check and see what's going on, click Start, Run, enter "sysdm.cpl" and click OK. Choose
the Advanced tab, then the Settings button under Startup and Recovery, uncheck the
'Automatically restart' option and click OK to all the open dialogs.

The next time it happens, you should be able to capture it.

Hi,

Just as some starting points, it's usually either something to do with how the sharing
folders functionality works or a video input device like a webcam.

STOP: Ox0000008E (Oxc0000005,ox8057E811,oxB706AF0,Ox00000000
Of course I have no idea what that means. Also I have 1024 of ROM and a
Pentium4 2.86 and 137 GBs of free memory on the HD. It only happens when I
sign into Live Messenger.

Ok, I had been away for a while and not used the puter as much as usual. This
morning the exact same thing happened, so I am at a loss. I did what Jonathan
Kay said to and took care of the sharing etc. Any further thoughts?
