rebooting while installing in updater

after the install bar reaches the end, during the updating of 'critical
updates'..only 5 items, about 5mb's worth, EVERY time the bar reaches the
end, and it gets ready to install to hd, then my computer reboots, or
improper shutdown, has anyone got any ideas as to why ya' think this might
be happenin'...i would be gratefull fer some help....all the best.....
