"The website has encountered a problem and cannot display the page you are
trying to view. The options provided below might help you solve the problem."

I entered Newsgoups as one of the options. Please advise.

Windows version?

Is this a sudden, new problem?

Did you just reinstall Windows?

What anti-virus application or security suite is installed? What
anti-spyware applications (other than Defender)? What third-party firewall
(if any)? Has a Norton application ever been installed on this machine?

Error message when you try to install updates from the Windows Update Web
site on a Windows XP-based computer: "Windows Update has encountered an
error and cannot display the requested page":
http://support.microsoft.com/kb/914226

You receive a "Windows Update has encountered an error and cannot display
the requested page" error message when you try to install an update:
http://support.microsoft.com/kb/883614
