Windows update is failing to successfully install the updates KB978382,
KB978380, & KB979895. The error code received is Code 646, on my Windows
Vista Ultimate (SP 2) PC.

Scans of the Help forums seems to indicated to solve the problem, I can
simply download and install the update manually, but this does not determine
the original problem. I want to resolve this issue so Windows can update
automatically and I don't need to interfere.

I attempted an install after disabling my firewall software on both the PC
and Wireless Router, but this was not successful either. Is there something
with the router that prevents the install happening correctly?

Peter, search this newsgroup for "646" and you'll find a couple hundred
posts regarding this. Most are fixes.

I must have tried most of the so called "fixes" and none have worked.

Then I suppose there can be no resolution.

The obviously the ones you haven't tried should be tried. ; }

Or you could start your own thread with your own details in case you have
something that no one here has ever seen before.

I have tried everyone I have found. I have also seen comments from others stating that they have not worked for them either

Then perhaps you should begin your own, new thread about /your/ computer &
problems instead of hijacking someone else's thread?
