This is a windows cyclic redundancy error (some kind of hard drive error) and
just had my issue resolved using Microsoft 'send a problem report' from the
'get help and support' menu on Microsoft update webpage. After trial and
error with a bunch of other things, what finally fixed my problem was running
"chkdsk /f" (Click Start, then Run, type 'cmd' and then 'chkdsk /f'). This
runs a scan of the hard drive to check for errors and repairs them. After
doing this, my problems appear to be solved and updates worked again. If in
doubt of how chkdsk (short for checkdisk) works, search for it on the
Microsoft web site.
