receiving messages, but can't send

i wanted to add my live.com account to windows mail on my laptop so i could
use the read receipt option. i followed the instructions, and it immediately
downloaded all messages from my inbox, but when i try to send i get this
message:
The connection to the server has failed. Subject 'reference', Account:
'pop3.live.com', Server: 'smtp.live.com', Protocol: SMTP, Port: 25,
Secure(SSL): Yes, Socket Error: 10060, Error Number: 0x800CCC0E

Compare your configuration settings to those listed on this page:

NB: Set Outgoing server (SMTP) to Port 587, not Port 25!

try 587 for the Outgoing (SMTP) port...
