Does anyone have information on what is going on with the Windows Update
site? After my last update, my computer is acting squirrelly, and I can no
longer open IE unless I go to Safe Mode with Networking. Numerous other
problems crop up all over the place. It seems as if Microsoft has downloaded
a virus with the last updates.

Like you I have problems. Blue screen of death as soon as Windows Malicious
Software Removal Tool (KB 890830) starts to be installed. Possibly clashing
withAVG Anti Virus?

I have managed to go to MSUpdates and stop this update. It is unnecessary
anyway as AVG looks after me without it.

I'm having a similar problem with a Sony Vaio running XP Pro SP2. It's
definitely the KB890830 Malicious Software Removal Tool that's causing
the BSOD on this PC. I had to disable Auto Updates, go to the MS Update
site, do a custom install, expand info on the specific update and
select to not show that update anymore. All updates thereafter
installed successfully.
