A while ago I must have done something that stopped recentley accessed
programs from appearing on the start menu. Since then I have just been
pinning stuff to the start menu but I've decided it's time to try & fix it.

I have made sure the option to show a list of recent programs is checked

I have tried switching to classic start menu & back

I have made sure the StartMenuInit registry file is correct

I have made sure the user policies do not call for the list to be deleted

....but none of the programs I access start to appear on the start menu.

I have google for solutions but there aren't many and they are covered in
the steps I have already taken.

If anyone has a solution it would be much appreciated.

TIA

Dave

Assuming you run Vista Home, and GPEDIT.MSC is unavailable for Policy
settings, you probably have some Permissions problem in the Recent folder.
If that's it, you would see a recent list in another user profile logon. If
a new profile works, you could try copying the old profile settings to the
new one.

Vista Business & gpedit.msc is available and was one of the steps I took.
Turns out I had disabled user tracking in Vista Manager which, amongst other
things, stopped windows gathering data about what programs I had run so it's
sorted now.

Cheers anyway
