Windows XP SP3
Toshiba laptop

Hi all
My recent auto update installed 11 of 13 updates KB959426 & KB956572 failed
with 0x8007074F on my Toshiba laptop. All 13 updates were installed perfectly
well on my desktop running same versions of software.

What do I do now

Many thanks in anticipation

Are you sure the error wasn't 0x80070*5*4F??

Start a free Windows Update support incident request:
https://support.microsoft.com/oas/de...spx?gprid=6527

For home users, no-charge support is available by calling 1-866-PCSAFETY in
the United States and in Canada or by contacting your local Microsoft
subsidiary. There is no-charge for support calls that are associated with
security updates. When you call, clearly state that your problem is related
to a Security Update and cite the update's KB number (e.g., KB959426;
KB956572).

Support for Windows Update:
http://support.microsoft.com/gp/wusupport

For more information about how to contact your local Microsoft subsidiary
for security update support issues, visit the International Support Web
site: http://support.microsoft.com/common/international.aspx

For enterprise customers, support for security updates is available through
your usual support contacts.

<cmd_output OS="XPsp3">
E:\>set /a c = 0x74F
1871
E:\>net helpmsg %c%
1871 is not a valid Windows network message number.

More help is available by typing NET HELPMSG 3871.
</cmd_output>

Even when you do have a correct error code which maps to an error message
in your OS you will undoubtedly need to see its context (or the context of its
decimal equivalent) in your logs to understand the clue it gives.
