recent security updates

After inst most recent Xp security updates, my system keeps messing up. I can
sign in to MSN, but when I try to sign in to Yahoo! the message comes
back,"check your internet connection" I haven't touched anything in the
Internet Properties. Also mouse doesn't always respond when I click it. Help
please.
