After loading the latest Windows updates, I can no longer use my Office
applications. Word hangs and crashes. Power Point opens, but I can't save
to a different directory. Power Point hangs and crashes when I try to select
different directory to save file.

Any way to fix this?

Do you have by any chance a HP Scanner connected to the machine?
If true, do you have the HP Scanner software installed too?

Very likely the problem is related with security update KB908531 - exclude or
remove it and test if Office works. At least this solved problems with XP
Home, XP Pro and Windows 2000 concerning saving as and copying files.

Yes I have HP Scanner and from another thread it looks like there is an
incompatibility with the KB913807 and the HP Share-to-Web software. I have
to learn how to remove or disable Share-to-Web while keeping the rest of the
scanner functional unless someboyd already knows how to do that.

My problems were solved by uninstalling HP Share to Web.

FWIW, if uploaded a ZIP file which includes a REG file, that does
exactly what the entry above suggests. If the "Share-To-Web" extension
has been "approved" already, _this_ registry entry will be deleted too:
