Hi, i work for an ISP and over the past couple of days we've has loads of
problems where customer can ping URLs, telnet through port 80 and everything
but cannot browse to anything but the router. Could anybody tell me if there
have been any windows updates which could have caused these problems as
customer can connect with their xbox 360 but not with the PC after trying
everything.

Cheers, Stu

Error message after you install a Windows Internet Explorer 7 update from
Windows Update or from Microsoft Update: "Webpage cannot be displayed":

Thanks, will give that a go, seems to be happening to people with many
different security programs, it seems they are able to use MSN etc.

Stu,

Suggest you check both the WindowsUpdate.log and the ReportingEvents.log
of the affected Users. AND, please ask which Version of Windows they're
running.

The WindowsUpdate.log is located in %windir%
The ReportingEvents.log, which shows all successful updates, is located
in %windir%\SoftwareDistribution

If you can get some cooperation from the affected Users, I'll be glad to
lend a hand to see if an update has caused the issue.

Since the updates came out the second Tuesday of November, it seems
unlikely that this issue would just be emerging now.

These users may have disabled Automatic Updates and only recently gotten
around to patching their machines manually at Windows Update website.
