Recent windows update incompatible with 8600GT driver

Hi! My PC was running fine until I installed some new vista updates on the
28th of Sept. The last update I did was on the 25th. I figured the problem
was with the VISTA updates when I formatted my PC and installed the graphics
card driver and everything was fine till I applied all the updates.
Afterwhich pink checkered squares would appear. After uninstalling the driver
and running on the standard vga adapter driver everything was fine again.
Even uninstalling all the updates cannot solve the problem. I'm currently
running my PC with all the updates minus the 8600GT driver.
Below is my PC setup:
AMD X2 6000
ASUS M2N32-SLI Delux WiFi edition
2Gb Ram 800MHz
320Gb Hdd
Asus 8600GT 256mb

Hi there,

If your hardware works fine: leave it be working fine and never take driver
updates from windows update unlees they are driver(s) for a microsoft
device, if not go to the manufacturers website that is IF an update is
NEEDED because the hardware is not working well.

If any problem arrised by taking a driver update from WU, try booting last
known good configuration, rolling back on the driver ore use system restore.

Windows Update does not work for nvidia graphic cards. It stuffs up
everything and then is difficult to get rid of. Follow this link to a guide
on the nvidia forums on how to get rid of the broken Windows Update driver.

(Notice that Step 1 is to turn off Windows Update - very important.)
