I had Windows XP home. I backed up my files to many seperate compact discs.

I now have Vista premium. Following the upgrade I can't access the files
that were on my hard drive.

I always thought I could run the compact discs and get everything back but
am having a difficult time.

Could someone please give me a path I can follow to restore the files I need?

Hi,

How did you copy the files? If you used XP's backup utility, then the
diffculty lies with the fact that it's not compatible with Vista. If this is
the case, you'll need to recover the files on another XP system or use third
party software. If you simplied copied them to disk, then perhaps you used
packet writing software by a third party utility?

Are you saying you cannot access the CDs?

If you did an upgrade...Vista over XP...have
a look at the following articles:

you perform a custom installation of Windows Vista
