Hi There!
We have a client who didn't tell us she had offline folders
syncing before we moved her to a new "server" (dedicated xp
pc) and then we changed the laptop and now those files are
"gone"
Luckily (Hopefully) we have the original laptops
c:\windows\csc directory which was robocopied from her
laptop to one of our servers during the transition. I have
copied those to a directory on the computer called c:\csc
and created another called cscsave. I have found csccmd.exe
1.1 and tried to run csccmd.exe /extract /target:c:\cscsave
/recurse. The problem is it says the command ran
successfully within a second, but there are no files saved
in the cscsave directory. I have tried without the recurse
option, with the recurse2 switch. Offline folders are
enabled on the pc we are attempting to recover from.
I have also tried disabling offline folders, and copying the
csc directory to the new computers c:\windows\csc and
renabling offline folders. When I run the csccmd command
above I get system error 5.
When I tried csccmd.exe /extract:\\127.0.0.1\c$\csc
/target:c:\cscsave /recurse I get system error 31 has
occurred. A device attached to the system is not
functioning. I tried creating a share, (which I can access
from another machine ok) and checked I have administrator
rights.
I would REALLY Appreciate any information that might allow
us to get this information back!
If I right click on the files and click open and open in
word/excel, then the files look intact, the problem is there
are about 6000 of them and she was also syncing a copy of
some server documents so it's going to be a LONG process to
do the entire thing like that.
It's imperative we recover these files, anyone able to shed
light on this?
