Hi everyone,

I don't know if this is the right forum but i wasn't sure which other group
i could post this to.

Does anyone know of a program that you can use to boot from cd into a file
manager or something like that so if windows wouldn't boot i could still
gain access to my files and copy them over my network to another pc?

Thanks in advance
Dan

Ghost 14 will allow you to do that provided that you can find the
right network drivers for it. I have used it to copy files to an
external hard drive which you can then take to another machine.

I forgot to mention that it ideally needs to support raid if possible?? I
tried ubuntu with the option to load from cd, this let me have access to my
network and my non raid hard drives, there is probably some way to
incorporate raid but seems like a bit too much effort for a problem that is
most likely to never happen.

Ghost with an external drive is almost perfect for that. If you
install it and then save an image of the drive where your windows
installation is if you make a mess of it you can have it back up and
running perfectly within 15 minutes.

UBCDW (Universal boot CD for Windows. Google it and on the first Google
page there's also a YouTube video on using it.

Or use any Linux Live CD.
