Recurring Reboot Problem

I was installing a windows update and it asked me if I would like to restart
- I said yes. My computer then went into a reboot and just about the time
when it should have brought up my desktop, it clicked back into another
restart. I let it do this for a while, remembering it said there were 20
windows updates, so i thought POSSIBLy it needed to reboot 20 times.
Needless to say, it has rebooted many more times then 20 and will not finish
the process. Any help would be GREATLY appreciated. I seem to recall there
is some key you can press to get it to pause in reboot where you can then
enter in some command for it to do something different...something like this
seems to be my only hope...

Press F8, go into Safe Mode, go to Control Panel and remove the update you
just installed.
