recycle bin and system restore

I seem to have two possibly serious problems:

1. My recycle bin has just disappeared, and
2. I cannot use system restore. I have tried 5 different restore points but
after reboot windows will report nothing restored and the process failed.

Thanks for your help in advance.

Right-click on the Desktop, click Personalize, and in the left pane, click
Change desktop icons. In the Desktop Icon Settings dialog, enable the
Recycle Bin checkbox.

Hello caratuco,

1.
Righclick the display>personalization>change desktop icons, here you can
checkmark the recycle bin and it will be back.

2.
Did you create a backup before with Backup and Restore Center?

Best regards

Maybe the following info will help with the
Recycle Bin issue.

Right click desktop / Personalize /
Change desktop icons (left pane) /
Check the box: "Recyle Bin" / Apply / OK

More Info:

How to restore the Recycle bin icon that has
been accidentally deleted:
http://www.winhelponline.com/articles/141/1/

How to hide the "Delete" command from
Recycle Bin context menu in Windows Vista:

As for the System Restore issue...sometimes
there are conflicts with other software...virus
scanners for example. The best bet is to run
System Restore from Safe Mode.
