Red X on network drives - drive not available

Ok, this is really for windows 7 however I didn't see a group for that yet.
We have replaced our old XP machines with Windows 7 and are now getting a red
"X" on network drives. Some people don't have a problem and can access them
and others get drive not available. How to fix? We have a Windows 2003 AD
in mixed mode. Our people get their mapped drives from a batch file we
created that looks like this: (net use p: \\server1\sharename /persistent:no)
All servers and PC are up to date with all MS patches.

Unfortunately it's highly unlikely that there will be any Microsoft
Windows 7 newsgroups. Apparently Microsoft has decided that web-based
forums are better than newsgroups and they are putting their efforts
there. I'm personally sorry that's the case, but it's their decision,
not mine.

However there is at least one non-Microsoft Windows 7 newsgroup:
alt-windows7.general. Not all servers carry it (at least not yet), but
here's one free news server that does: aioe.org

Unfortunately the spammers have made news groups practically useless any
more. Controlled web forums is a lot more productive.

I'd have thought '/persistent:yes' would be a better setting.

The ideal would be to pluck up the weeds while leaving the wheat. But as the
Parable of the Weeds illustrates, it isn't always easy to tell one from the
other.
