Reformatting windows 64

I have installed windows xp 64 evaluation on my comp and its not letting me
run half of my old stuff and wont use my sound card so no sound. All I wanna
do is reformate my computer so i can reinstall the HP recovery disc, when i
try to use HP recovery disc wont work cause newer version of wondows on it,
so i need to know how to just earase the hard drive to start fresh please

Are you booting from the HP Recovery disk?
Do not try by inserting HP Recovery disk from within Windows.
Otherwise check your manual and/or contact HP for specifics of how to use HP
restore CDs..
