Regarding Update to Media Player

I have installed SP2 with no problems. However, WMP sends me a message
offering to download and install the "latest" version, which appears to be
the one already installed as part of the SP2 update.
I downloaded the setup file, but did not install it. Should I do so? Is it
possible that it could cause a problem if, indeed, I already have the latest
version of Windows Media Player? (Version 9.00.00.3250)

If I'm not mistaken the latest version of MP for XP is 10
