Hi,

At our place of work we use an MS-DOS based Accounting program (called
Anagram) running of an NT4 SP6 server, recently various individuals had
noted that the program had now started slowing down.
After transferring the program over to our 2003 server with still no
improvement we had started pulling our hair out.
However we have hit on a breakthrough, if we uninstalled KB885835 then the
problem would go away and the accounts program ran ok on any client we
removed it from.
But we are left with 2 problems, it now means that we have to turn off
auto-updates and remove it from every PC on site, and the next big problem
is that several of the PC's are running XP Service Pack 2 and there is no
way to remove that individual update from these XP SP2 machines, without
removing SP2 and then the update, which is a backward step in my opinion.
What I think we really need is for some technical boffin at Microsoft to
look at this update and see if they can see what the problem is, as many
others are having problems with the patch.

Thanks for any help or suggesstion you may care to give.

Alan Savage

Open an incident with MS and report this officially.
