Your other problem is you posted in all caps. That's consider shouting,
when on line...

Many, including myself, will purposefully bypass a post that is in all CAPS!

Caps make it hard to read!
That is the reason.

Guess what I thought was a sarcastic initial response was not. I always
have caps on as a habit and never even heard of the term "shouting" nor knew
that caps make it hard to read. My apologies to all for this unintentional
mistake and to Dave in particular - it won't happen again.

That said, my problem stil remains as previously stated and would appreciate
any help.

Appologetically.

Hi Thnkit,

What happens when you try to run Regedit.exe? See if this article applies:

Error "Registry editing has been disabled by your administrator" when you open the Registry Editor in Windows Vista:

Hi Ramesh,

I tried your second approach entered regedit at start-search and it opened
to 5 regedit displays:

1. regedit.exe.mui
2. regedit32
3. reg_enable
4. regedit.32
5. regedit.exe.mui

#3 to me to an error message - Invalid root in registry key code 8007002

#'s 1,2,4,5 took me to windows file aqssociation screen - unknown.

A different nformationpath took me to the information below that still left
me with the regedit editor access problem so i can fix my cd rom original
problem.

Any further ideas

Thanks

Thnkit

Registry Editor: Welcome
System configuration information is stored centrally in a hierarchical
database called the registry. You can use Registry Editor to add and edit
registry keys and values, restore the registry from a backup or to default
values, and to import or export keys for reference or backup.

etc.
