You can just run the Msconfig tool.

Click on Start, then in the start search box, type "msconfig" and press
Enter.
Click on the Startup tab.

I've read, tho I don't know the rationale, that it is better to do that via
Windows Defender.

Hi Drew,

This tutorial will show you how to remove startup programs. The safest
and easiest method is to use Windows Defender.

This will remove them from the msconfig menu after you uncheck them.

Sure. But as always, direct editing of the registry is always
potentially dangerous. No matter how experienced you are, there is
always the possibility of a mistake, and some mistakes can leave you
with an unbootable computer.

A safer, and therefore, better way to do this is with a GUI-based
program. MSCONFIG and Windows Defender are available, as well as
third-party programs like WinPatrol and Mike Lin's Startup Control
Panel.

Better? It's not even possible.

Please disregard. I was thinking of something else. It is possible to
manage Startup programs via Windows Defender, but it seems somewhat
awkward to me.

try this:

HKEY_CURRENT_USER\software\microsoft\windows\curre nt version\run\

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\software\microsoft\windows\curr ent version\run\

do it with AAA skills or your PC might totally crippled.
it is also a good idea to backup your registry file before editing.
