Registry Corrupted?

Vista Ultimate 32bit user.

The registry entry:

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\ControlSet001\Enum\USBPR INT

contains an entry for my printer (Lexmark Z65) which does not work in
Vista. I have tried to delete this entry but only receive this
message:

Cannot delete LemarkLexmark_Z65: Error while deleting key.

I have tried in Safe mode - no change
I have exported the key , made amendments but it cannot import the
key.

Is there any way to remove this key without having to reinstall Vista?

Just make the change under HKLM\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Enum\USBPRINT.

Thank you Spirit & Tom unfortunately the printer is not listed in
Control Panel - Printers and when I use Tom's alternative address I
get the same reply as before!

More suggestions please.

P.S. I have checked the ownership of this key and it is me!!!

Can you re-install the printer and then delete it normally?

If it's not listed in Printers, then it is not installed or properly
installed. The Lexmark site does not list this printer as compatible with
Vista:
http://tinyurl.com/yqjlh4
http://tinyurl.com/2d8wh

Hence, this might be some sort of compatibility issue.

I'm not sure if you can bring up regedit in Safe Mode but you might try
accomplishing this task there. Boot the system start tapping F8 and choose
Safe Mode at the menu.

If that doesn't resolve it, it may be a security issue and turning off UAC
might resolve it. Boot to the Vista Desktop, open Control Panel, go to
Users, click Turn User Account Control On or Off, turn it off and then see
if you can perform the task as desired. NOTE: you should turn UAC back on
after you've finished.

How about running regedit.exe "elevated"?

Type regedit.exe in the Start Search box above the Start Orb, and when it
appears at the top, right click, and select "Run as Administrator"?

I assumed that had been tried, Cal, as you had already made the suggestion.
I was figuring, if all else fails, turn off UAC!<G>

I'm also thinking the issue may be complicated by a possible forced install
given that I didn't find the printer listed as compatible at the Lexmark
website; hence, a compatibility situation may in part be driving the issue.

Another (random) thought:

Control Panel > Printers > File > Run as Administrator > Server Properties... >
Drivers tab, is the printer listed there and can be removed there?
