Hi,
I got Vista Ultimate SP1.
My problem is, that my Windows-Update-Software fails to update itself.
It reports the error 0x8007371C
After long search, I found out, that my registry is broken at this part.
Under:
HKLM\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Win dowsUpdate\Setup\SetupInProgress
Is nothing, this means, whenever I select it, it pops up, Error while
opening entry. Entry Missing.
Can anybody help me?

Big THX,

Maschdel

There is an answer in the above thread.

And/or try System File checker.

Hi Mad Mike,

THX for your post.
I tried both ways, but it still doesn't work.
Same error 0x8007371C
Funny thing is, that despite it fails installing Vista components, it
succeeds installing defender and Office updates.
SFC /Scannow results in some not repairable files.

I have no clue what else to do!
Shall I delete some files perhaps and hope for Vista to replace them?
If yes, which files?

THX,

Maschdel

I tried and copied the setup files from the new WU-Agent 3.0 into the
System32 folder.

Now I got a new error, and it doesn't even search for updates.

I'll try to write back the original WU files.
