I am very sorry that you are encountering this issue. Please perform an
"in-place upgrade" of your system, so that you can keep all of your settings,
and just replace the system files that are no longer "playing well together."
This is DIFFERENT than a repair installation, since you will not click the R on
that first menu, but later on in the setup wizard. Here is the website for
