Registry locked

I am trying to load Project 2003 into my new HP with Vista Home Premiuim for
sometime now. The Project discussion group cannot find an asnwer and I am
hoping I can find one here.

One of the referenced FAQ's in the Project Discussion Group advised me to to
go into the registry to modify an entry. When I did so and got to the
suggested entry (s), I found all MSProject entries (20 or 30) would not allow
any action on any of them. Right clicking produced "Serializers cannot be
opened. An error is preventing this key from being opened. Access is denied."

Can someone advise me on this?

Dan, two things to try as you are installing Project.

1. At the setup.exe right-click and "Run as Administrator"

2. At the setup.exe right-click > Properties> Compatibility> XP SP2

Did you alter the Registry with Administrative Rights?

Click Start
Type Command Prompt
Right click it
Click 'Run as Administrator' on the contextual menu that pops up
Type 'regedit' without quotes
Hit 'Enter' on your keyboard then apply the suggested instructions given you
in the Project Discussions group.

Thanks for the response! I uninstalled and then re-installed using your
suggestions. I found that the simple uninstall removed all references to
Project in the Registry, so my original question is meaningless. My problem
persists, however.

Project appears to install correctly, but upon running it, it "installs",
then I see the Project Splash screen for a second, then it installs 2
features and finally gives me a "not enough memory" error. I have 1GB and
several others on the Project Community get exactly the same situation.
Others have no problem at all.

It is really exasperating.

see from my post above, I find my original question is not my problem.

Yes, SP3 is installed. (I have tried it with SP3 not installed, as well). I
