Though I run registry editor with admin rights, it returns "you do not
have the requisite permissions to create a new key", when I try to
create to following key:
[HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\InternetShortcut\shell\open in new window\command]
@="rundll32.exe shdocvw.dll,OpenURL %l"
How do I set my rights? Thanks, Sven

About 1/4 of the way down, you should read *How UAC works*.

You are being prevented from modifying the ....\shell entry by access
rights. Only the 'Trusted installer' has full control over this node.
(right click on ......\shell, select permissions.)

In general you will have to assume ownership and then assign the permissions
you desire to your account. Also in general this is done the same way as
getting ownership to files that the operating system is trying to protect.

I recommend that you think long and hard before entering into subverting the
security that Vista imposes on what it considers critical system data.

For instance if you change owner I believe there is no way to change it back
to 'trusted installer'.

I am getting aware of the 'Trusted installer' only by your hint.
Thanks for your warning! So I'll be concerned with the subject in
depth.
