Registry will not pull up in Windows XP...HELP

when I go to Start, run and regedit...nothing happens. I am trying to remove
my Norton which is not installed all the way and I can not remove it through
add/remove programs so it states to remove through the registry but, it wont
come up? Any help would be greatful!!!!
