Reijnstalling WLM

I had wlm working for some time. I went back to Outlook express for some
time. When trying to use wlm again, it would not start. I used Add Remove
to remove wlm and downloaded the start file.

When I start the file it scans for a bit, then a pop up comes up called
Windows Live Welcome. It shows what will be in wlm. At the bottom right
side it says Space needed ) bytes, Space savable 10.4 GB.

Then I believe I click start and nothing happens. I have checked the
registry with Reg Cleaner and see nothing about wlm. For some reason I
cannot reinstall wlm. Ant suggestions on what I should do to reinstall wlm?
Thanks

Bert

Gary,

I removed the ones shown. I still get the same at the Welcome to Windows. It
still says I have it installed.

There is a few things that might also need to be removed. I wanted to check
with you first.

In Current Users ---Microsoft There is one called Windows Live and one
called Windows Live Contacts.

In Local Machine---Microsoft there is one called Windows Live and one called
Windows Live Writer.

Should these be deleted also? At this time, I do not plan on installing
Win 7 which I understand has win live email. Thanks

Bert

Hi, Bert.

Didn't we just go through this in another thread here?

Win7 has NO email client or newsreader AT ALL!

Too many users complained that WinXP/Vista, etc., were bloated. And too
many competitors (and the US Government) complained that including mail and
news functions in Windows stifled competition. So Microsoft decided to slim
down Win7 by eliminating those functions completely.

Now, we are free to choose any mail or news client that we want. Many of us
(including myself - and YOURSELF?) use the free Windows Live Mail offered by
Microsoft at http://download.live.com . Others use third-party products,
such as Thunderbird or Forté Agent. And some pay for Microsoft's Outlook
(either standalone or as a part of the Office suite). It's a free market,
so we each choose for ourselves.

By the way, WHY do so many of your posts appear twice, including once with
no added content?

I suppose you are talking about registry keys?
I see no harm in deleting anything pertaining to Live apps, such as
Live Writer. Those keys will be regenerated when you do a new install.

Well I removed the rest of the apps and it still will not reinstall. The
Welcome to windows still says the program is installed and will not
reinstall.

I will keep using Outlook Express. Actually OE has some things I like
better than WLM. I may look for some other email provider. Thanks a lot.

Sorry to hear the 'complete' uninstall procedure was not successful.
