Reinstall Windows Sharepoint Services 3.0

Someone uninstalled WSS 3.0 from an SBS 2008 Premium machine in an effort to
free up disk space and I've been asked to reinstall it (there was 38 GB of
IIS logs they didn't know about eating up nearly half of their OS partition).
I tried the obvious solution, download WSS 3.0 and install it, but of course
that doesn't work. Does anyone know how to do this? Any help will be greatly
appreciated.

Without knowing how WSS 3.0 was uninstalled, I'd try Russ's reinstall

It was uninstalled using Programs and Features from the Control Panel.

reinstall it successfully.
