oh, the extra precautions of safe mode/ command prompt aren't really
necessary. all you have to do is go to Start>Run>Type in
C:\WINDOWS\SoftwareDistribution. A window will come up with somefolders,
just right click the one name "download" and hit "rename." You can rename it
to anything...Download.old is just a suggestion. Then automatic update will
redownload and apply the patches.
