You don't necessarily have to do a reinstallation if you are still able to
boot into Vista, just do an inplace upgrade over the current installation
and it will preserve your personal files and settings and fix/replace any
damaged system files without affecting your applications.
The other options is to boot from your Windows Vista DVD, select the System
Repair Option > on the setup screen, select 'Repair Computer > Select your
installation of Windows > select Startup
Repair option and follow instructions. This option will only fix corrupted
system files without affecting your personal files, settings and
applications.
You might need to reapply your Windows Updates which is the least.
