How does one do this - I have lost it since the Defender update fiasco, and
the site just sits there saying it is checking that I have the latest version
of the software. I saw posts about

WindowsUpdateAgent20-x86.exe

but running this just tells me that WU is already installed. How can I
"uninstall" it so I can get it to work again?

Hi,

When it says "Install is not needed since Windows Update Agent is
already installed.", run the exe with the command line switch
/wuforce, like this:

WindowsUpdateAgent20-x86.exe /wuforce

Yes, thanks, I found that in another post, tried it, and whilst it ran, I
still get nothing when I go to the WU site - just sits there with the message
re checking for latest software, and that's it - doesn't do anything :-((

Hi

You could try the steps in this post to try to get WU to work:

If nothing there worked, try the steps in this post:

3 months later, and still no WU/MU from the website. I think it is an
ActiveX problem; I just get the "checking" page, and it sits there - but
also, Panda ActiveScan no lonher loads, and another site I use on and off, a
web based VPN package, no longer does anything when it tries to load an
Active X wotsit

Does that help? How does one fix ActiveX?

Cheers
Jeremy
