reinstalling xp home edition

My computer isnt working correctlly with vista. I want to switch back to xp.
I have no sticker on my pc with the product key code. were can I find the key
code for the xp edition that was on my computer before I installed vista?

Are you dual booting with Vista and XP? If so, you can find the product
key. If not, and you don't have it written down anywhere, you are sh¡t
out of luck and will have to purchase a new XP license/product key.

That said, if your computer came with XP preinstalled and you have a
recovery CD, use that and no product key will be necessary.

OR, move up to Ubuntu, the latest and hippest Linux operating system. No
need for a product key; it's free and needs no activation or becoming
"genuine" like XP and Vista do. Not only that, it comes with access to
over 25,000 free programs. Check it out at http://www.ubuntu.com/

recovery cd wasnt included. book says that recovery stuff is on "D" drive.
can I access it on that drive?

Usually OEM computers with recovery partitions will let you boot the recovery
program and reinstall factory OS and settings during startup. Reboot, and
during the power-on tests, look for a phrase like "Press F1 for Recovery" or
something. Most manufacturers use Escape, Delete, F1, F8, or the letter C as
the hot-button.

If you can't find it, try searching the website of your PC's manufacturer,
or post it here and I'll try to locate the doc for it.

You already tried the CD Key Reader, to find out the installed keys on your
PC?
